The Camp Fire is the most destructive and deadliest wildfire in California history. The fire started on November 8, 2018 in Butte County and raged for two weeks straight. It killed 86 people and destroyed the town of Paradise almost entirely. In total 18,793 structures were destroyed, including 13,696 single-family homes, 276 apartment buildings, and 528 commercial buildings. Despite the fire being out, thousands of people have lost their homes and livelihoods. They are some of the first climate change refugees who will have to navigate the challenges of how and where to start over again.
