Reckless Retreats: Each year, thousands of high school students across the U.S. have been sent to a network of controversial days-long retreats aimed at exploring race and gender issues. Camp Everytown, in the Santa Cruz mountains takes teenagers from the Bay Area and asks them to do various exercises that make them vulnerable and often break down sobbing. Sometimes the children get violent. The exercises are aimed at discussing stereotypes but some people wonder if they simply re-enforce them.
